This hands on upholstery course offers a relaxed introduction to restoring and reimagining furniture through fabric, form and technique. Designed as a practical and creative experience, the class encourages a thoughtful approach to working with materials while building confidence in upholstery skills.
Working on a small stool, youāll learn how to strip back existing layers, prepare the structure and rebuild using new fabric and padding. Alongside these core skills, youāll explore how colour, texture and material choice can subtly transform a piece into something both functional and personal.
With guidance throughout, youāll develop an understanding of upholstery tools and processes while working at your own pace in a calm, supportive studio environment.
The workshop is suitable for beginners and anyone interested in learning upholstery techniques through a mindful hands on approach.

This five week course consists of weekly 3 hour sessions, guiding you step by step through the upholstery process.
Step by step guidance in traditional upholstery techniques.
Use of upholstery tools and equipment during the workshop.
You are welcome to bring your own stool or purchase one from the studio
( approximately 45×45cm).
Advice on fabric and material choices- All materials are provided, except for the top cover fabric.
Tea, coffee and home made cake.
By the end of the session youāll leave with a completed piece and the confidence to continue exploring upholstery at home.
About your tutor
Heather is a fully AMUSF-qualified upholsterer with a diploma in furniture design. She has gained valuable experience working with a French upholsterer and in several professional workshops before establishing her own business in 2020.
